So far, I’ve listened to the first three episodes and then I skipped to this episode because I have always wanted to live in Spain. I came to this podcast looking for a resource in my decision to move abroad, but sadly I have not found what I am looking for. After all three episodes that I’ve listened to, I was still left Wondering things such as: what type of Visa did you get? Tell me about the process of getting a visa? What are the pros and the cons of living in that country? How does this country and its culture differ from the United States? Do you feel safer in your new country than when you were in the United States? What are the things that you love about your new country? And what are some of the cultural differences that you have a hard time adjusting to? How did the people in the new country receive you as an African American? So far, this podcast is not serving what I needed it to serve. Can you recommend another podcast that will address these questions in every episode? And as for Christine, does she even enjoy living in Spain? All she ever said was negative things about it and it left me extremely aggravated. She spoke of the language barrier, the absence of one stop shops, fetishizing black women, etc. It really made me feel like she did not enjoy living in Spain, so I am left wondering why she even moved there in the first place. I understand she was trying to be “real” but this episode did not serve me as she seemed to focus on her business. How can she maintain wellness in a country that she doesn’t even seem to like? I will continue to listen to more of your podcast, but will you please consider asking your guests the questions that I’ve asked? Thank you! It would be greatly appreciated.
Hi Sahar. Thanks for sharing your feedback. Most of the answers to your questions are easily obtained from the oracle, Google. Visa requirements change many times over as they have during the pandemic. The other set of questions can best be answered by working directly with an expat coach to help you discover what the right country is best for your needs and situation.
In the show notes of every episode is the contact of each guest. Christine is the host of the Flourish in the Foreign podcast and shares her experience living abroad in Spain. Feel free to reach out to her directly with your specific questions.
Lastly, we need more people who are willing to add to the fabric of the narrative, so I encourage you to create your own show so you can ask the questions you would like answered.
